Redundant Fibre Infrastructure

Cornet Switching System’s MTX switch assures a dependable and safe system for the reliable exchange of data. The MTX switch provides a seamless backup with a wide range of interface support incorporating numerous terrestrial and satellite routing and rerouting capabilities.

The problem:
Many large businesses use a terrestrial global backbone network to connect to its customers. These networks lack redundancy and have limited physical interface capabilities. Quite often backbone networks and associated data equipment reside on a single floor, so businesses are highly susceptible to a major disaster.

The solution:
The Cornet Switching System’s matrix switch provides a sophisticated fully redundant, automated fibre cable management system. This solution eliminates single points of failure through redundancy of switching engine, computer control, fibre optic connections, and switch card and by automatic sparing and background diagnostics. The switching engine supports a wide range of interface such as T1/E1, RS 232, X21, and V-35.

The MTX engine along with a Cornet Switching System CorScan 400 (control and management) server, the standby system and the Network Control Centre can be interconnected by fibre and widely distributed throughout the building on different floors, so is more protected against disaster. The use of fibre cables minimises the size of holes between rooms and therefore reduces the risk of a fire spreading.
