The MTX-R BTS is a ruggedized non-blocking, high-speed digital matrix switch designed for shipboard applications. The Switch allows the interconnection of 512 digital or Wideband (25 kHz) analogue ports, and performs automated switching and control of clear and encrypted signals between modems, encryption devices, radio transmitters and receivers.

It provides critical reliability and space efficiency to tactical operations. Its primary function is to connect up to 16 ISDN (BRI) telephone lines to up to 32 crypto devices or encrypted radios.
