Cornet
Technology, Inc Winner of a New Product Achievement Award at ComNet
'99 in Washington, DC
The Company's FSX Fiber Crosspoint Switch Is The First Single
Platform Hybrid Copper/Fiber Crosspoint Matrix Switch
Springfield, VA - February 3, 1999 - Cornet Technology, Inc., the
leader in high-speed matrix switching, today announced that its FSX
fiber crosspoint switch for both enterprise and carrier environments
received the New Product Achievement Award in the Network Management
category at ComNet '99 on Wednesday, January 27, 1999.
Winners were chosen by non-exhibitor ComNet attendees who cast their
votes for finalists chosen earlier by a panel of judges consisting
of representatives of the trade and business press, industry research
firms, the financial community and academia. Cornet Technology, Inc
was one of three finalists in the Network Management category.
"With over 100 new products submitted for these awards, Cornet Technology,
Inc is honored to be a category winner," said Nat Kumar, CEO of Cornet
Technology, Inc. "The FSX is indicative of our continuing efforts
to utilize the latest technology to meet our customers needs. We are
delighted that those who voted appreciated the innovative design of
the FSX and the network problems it solves."
The FSX is the first and only crosspoint switch in the industry with
the ability to provide a crosspoint switching fabric for both electrical
and optical interfaces. Its unique design allows a consolidation of
copper and fiber applications to be tested and monitored through a
single platform. This platform is perfectly positioned to boost interface
speed and distribution requirements.
The FSX switching system consists of two basic components: The GSX
switching engine and a FCU. The FSX design permits circuits to terminate
directly into the FCU and then be distributed throughout the data
center. This flexible and scaleable architecture provides a number
of benefits to network planners. These benefits include, the ability
to:
 |
Simplify management of copper and fiber resources |
 |
Eliminate fiber patch panels |
 |
Connect dissimilar cable and equipment types |
 |
Provide one solution for both low and high speed test access |
 |
Size the FSX to proper port requirements |
 |
Automate backup switches |
 |
Extend line distances |
 |
Centralize management of all test access Integrate with any
SNMP platform |
