| PC Controlled Patching & Switching Overview
Features and Options
Cornet Technology UK's PC controlled patching systems provides
all of the functionality of manual patching but with more features
and under remote control. PC controlled patching can be similar
to manual patching in that it can provide optional front-panel manual
patching. However, PC controlled patching differs in that it is
designed to provide the patching functionality from a centralised
help desk. PC controlled patching gives the capability to remotely
connect, monitor and test communications channels using proprietary
test equipment, without having to attend the patching system.
Proactive Alarm Alerting
PC controlled patching can provide an interface alarm capability
to allow network control technicians to be alerted to network alarm
conditions before the network user is aware of the problem. Armed
with this feature he should become proactive to alarms. Correcting
network faults by either repairing or rerouting will help maintain
maximum up-time. At the same time this will speed up restoral services
times through reacting immediately to problems while they are still
hot.
